Happy Halloween, etc, etc

What a dead day at work. So dead I can sit here and do this. It's Halloween and I'm just not that into it this year. I don't go overboard crazy when it comes but I usually participate to some level. I will hand out candy. I enjoy that. Besides, what else is there to do on a Saturday night?

I think I'm kinda bummed about not being at the Phish fest out in the SoCal desert. I used to roam those roads while working for Hyatt in the Palm Springs>Rancho Mirage>Palm Desert>Indian Wells>La Quinta>Indio area. We lived four dudes in our own place inside a gated community no less with our own pool & hot tub. Herb would come to me weekly as my one roomy lived right up the road in Fabulous LA. We would golf at the most amazing courses. Course I knew from TV. Casinos were everywhere and in the winter if I ever got homesick for snow, I could just drive the van up the hill. Voila. SoCal snow.

So Phish is playing the Empire Club Polo Grounds for Festival 8. It's the same place where they hold the Cochella Festival which was just getting its legs when I was out there (2003), but now it's a Festival Monster. I have been to their past 3 fests and 4 in total. I missed Big Cypruss as we were in Thailand. Who knew that would be the night of nights when the boys would drop an 8 hour set on the crowd. Yeah. 8 fucking hours. 1 set. And then they went on hiatus. Who knew?

I think the combination of Festival 8 being a Halloween show/Festy plus being held in an area I know well and made a lot of good friends is dragging on me. No. The fact that I can't be there is dragging on me. Ha ha! I will get by, I will survive. I've signed up for a 7 day trial pass with Sirius/XM as they are broadcasting all 8 sets over the weekend. That should be a good 16+ hours of music. I think a weekend pass with camping was $199USD. Do the math. That's value kids. Well, that being said I think I just completed Blog Therapy and I'm ready to move on and just enjoy the music that comes from it. No doubt I will have it all on disc before I sit back down at my Work Station next week.

One of the coolest things I remember about living there was Sundays during the NFL season. I never worked Sundays. There was this sports bar, and for the life of me I can't remember the name, but you would walk in at 9:30AM for the 10 o'clock game (Pacific) and they would have signs on different TVs all over the place listing what game was going to be played on what TV. There must have been 50 TVs so you could have a choice of where to sit to catch the game you wanted. You see, no body that lived there was really from there. Most were transplants. My good buddy just happened to be from Michigan and had the same problem as me. He was a Detroit Lion's Fan. We would start off with a Bloody Mary breakfast and take it from there.

I wonder what it's like now with flatscreens? It's probably awesome.

Cheers,
mjs
