Detroit, MI > NCAA > Das Hips
I should do something. Commit to the cause. Make it a better place. Detroit is a city close to my heart. Even though I have never lived there I know it and I feel its pain. Can I do anything? Can anyone? Is it better to somehow put it out of it's misery or can a renaissance happen? Can a collective do it? What would it take to initiate a growth of downtown population that was community oriented, employed and progressive? Who is best suited to undertake this task? I think I know. It's the hippies and the artists. I'm going to put together my thoughts on this. The whys and hows. At some point I may have to participate. I think I have something to offer. It's an honorable cause that will have both big struggles and big rewards.
Here's an ESPN video that submits a similar starting point as I see it. There needs to be a call to arms.
I'm taking Michigan St with the points. Enjoy the game and enjoy Detroit!
The Detroit Tigers kick off their season here in Toronto vs the Blue Jays. I have high hopes and low expectations for both teams this season. Unfortunately this game conflicts with some previously made plans to go and see The Tragically Hip's live and interactive session from their Bathouse studio down at the old Cineplex. They will be doing a Q&A along with performing some or all of their new album, We Are the Same. The album is due to be release across Canada and the US tomorrow (April 7th), but it's being handed out free with all tickets to tonight's event. I'll be baked with a cup of Tim's. Should be cool.

NCAA>Michigan>Sports Betting
Time flies when you're having fun. Time flies when you're not too. I think this is just one of the effects of gathering age. Well, this week flew by for me and I realized I hadn't posted in a while. One week is the absolute maximum amount of time I ever want to have between updates. I should be posting 2-3 times a week. If not, stuff gets missed you know?
NCAA March Madness is upon us and it always gets me excited. The first four days of the tournament become the focal point of a sports calendar that is just awakening from it's winter hibernation. Things really seem to shut down after the Superbowl. It's like a gambler's recovery time. NFL losses need to be recouped so bettors can hit the NCAA tournament with a vengeance. Workplace bracket pools are unavoidable. I got some side bets with a couple of guys on our head-to-head scores. I figure it's a good way to hedge my initial buy-in and since I actually follow college basketball it stands to reason I have and edge over someone who doesn't. It is the Madness though. Anything can happen.
In addition to the tournament we have playoff races being contested in the NHL and NASCAR has a race at Bristol this weekend which is usually fun to watch. The World Baseball Classic is also being contested this year. Time to get the finals out of America though. Attendance is pathetic, especially for the level of talent on the field. If they don't like it, don't want to travel fuck em. The world is slowly becoming quite talented at America's pastime which is nothing for the hosts to be upset about. Consider it an honor that the world likes you game.
Michigan is back baby! The mighty Wolverines advanced to the second round by putting the beatdown on Clemson. I took Michigan today at +7.5 along with the under (135). I know in both those bets I am going against Blake Griffin, the consensus #1 pick in this years NBA lottery so let me make this point very clearly...I do not offer gambling advice. I present this information for entertainment purposes only. Please do your own risk/reward assessment.
My other picks for today:
Basketball
Maryland +9.5 over Memphis
Western Kentucky +11 over Gonzaga
Western Kentucky moneyline win over Gonzaga
LSU +12.5 & under 159 total vs NC (parlay)
Purdue moneyline vs Washington
Hockey
Ottawa -1.5 over NYI
Tampa Bay moneyline over Atlanta
Vancouver/Ottawa parlay straight up wins
Toronto moneyline over Montreal
In all I have 24 units in play today. I will update the results for you tomorrow.
