Well, we have three more weeks including this one before the playoffs begin. Two teams will be left out in the dark and the remaining 8 will battle it out for the title.
Some housekeeping...we are awaiting dues from Pete (Pantz) & Kris (Timberlea) in Halifax and from Chris (lazydayz) and Andre (Generals) in Toronto. I want to send out the awards ASAP so your cooperation is appreciated by me and I'm sure, the rest of the league. Here's the payouts:
1st - $150
2nd - $75
3rd - $50
OK, with the conclusion of week 10 we have 6 teams that have clinched a post season berth with 4 teams battling over the remaining two spots.
Our GOTW last week saw NJ Generals (3-7) top lazydayz (2-8) in a low-scoring affair, 47-39. This was a big match-up at the bottom of the table and with total points being the tie-breaker NJ needed that one.
Matty, Matty Vince y'all and his IcYuNVme outfit (6-3-1) hit the century mark to handily beat Deadhead Express (5-4-1). Both clinched playoff berths and understand there's a possibility of butting heads again this season.
Peter Pantz (2-8) desparate for a win finally put up some points, but alas, it was to no avail as Mike Mitchell's Kootnay Krushers (7-3) showed no mercy putting up 127 points. This is a league record for the season, shattering the old mark of 106 points put up by Deadhead Express against that very same Pantz of Peter team. Ouch.
The Crush (7-3) continued its winning ways and got back into the win column vs the Klassy Kanucks (4-6), who have been reeling as of late dropping 4 in a row. The Kanucks are holding on to a playoff spot by a thread and the bottom of the table should provide some nice drama coming in.
Lastly, the Timberlea Terror (6-4) brough the league leaders of a week ago back down to earth as Kevin's Green Bay Packers (7-3) only managed to put up a measly 27 points. A nice week for the Terror who is in position along with IcYuNVme to shake things up in the top three.
Week 11
Heading into Week 11 it could be argued that any one in the top 5 could attain the top seeding and any 2 of the bottom four could be the ones to make it in.
This week's GOTW is going to be the top of the table tilt between Green Bay Packers and The Crush. Someone will definately be 8-3 and could stand alone at the top if...
...Deadhead Express can somehow find a way to knock off the offensive juggernaut that is the Kootnay Krushers.
IcYuNVme will be looking to pad his stats and move farther up the standings vs NJ Generals. NJ is just hoping LT will explode from here on out.
The often overlooked Timberlea Terror finds himself in a nice position and will be looking to feast on bottom feeder lazydayz, but the return of Tony Romo and a point total suggesting his place in the standings is a bit of bad luck could sway this match-up either way. Time will tell.
Last but not least a losing streak will come to an end. Klassy Kanucks (L4) vs Peter Pantz (L6). I think Klassy could book his ticket with a victory this week however, a victory by Peter would keep the bottom of the table wide open going into Week 12. This match-up did receive serious consideration for GOTW honors as well.
Top of the table teams should have eyes for those top 2 seeds as they will undoubtedly set up for enviable first round playoff match-ups...no one on the bottom wants to pony up the $50...game on.
Good luck to everyone this week.
